Here, find my Mixtiles Review. Mixtiles took the renter scene by storm a few years ago. But are they really renter-friendly? Read on to find out…
My Mixtiles review is an unbiased review that will help you decide if these photo tiles are the solution you’ve been looking for to create the perfect gallery wall in your rental space. To some people, making a million holes in the wall for a gallery wall and filling them in upon moving is no big deal. To other people though, this seems daunting. Enter the scene Mixtiles.
As a long-term renter, do I think they’re worth it? I absolutely do! They have been great! Below I will share some information about Mixtiles because it’s hard to get much information about the tiles and pricing without first sharing your name and email address. So I’ll share all you need to know to make an informed decision. Then I will share my honest Mixtiles review after that. Feel free to DM me on Instagram if you have any further questions or leave a comment below.

A Bit About Mixtiles
What are Mixtiles?
Photo frames that come pre-done with the photos you uploaded. The back of the frame has a sticky foam. You peel off the backing and pop it on the wall, that’s it! They can be popped on and off the wall a few dozen times before losing their stickiness and without causing any damage.
What sizes do they come in?
Frames range from 4″x4″ to the largest frame, 20″x27″. You can choose all the same size and color frames or you can choose options with a mix of sizes and/or frame colors. So it’s more versatile than you may think.
What frame choices are there?
You can have white, black, or natural wood frames with or without matting. Or you can go frameless, which is somewhat of a canvas-style look.
Do Mixtiles have glass?
No, they do not.
How do I upload photos?
I used the free app to upload photos from my phone. I believe you can make your purchase online as well, but I found using the mobile app was super easy as my phone had all the photos I needed. You can also upload photos from Instagram and Facebook.
How much do Mixtiles cost?
I paid $99 for 12 tiles. This was a promotion, but every time I go to the site or app they seem to be running the same deal, at least at the time of this post. But remember this price includes all your photos and the frames. If you have to buy 12 frames plus your prints, it’d cost way more than this, just saying. There are different packages to choose from with different prices, obviously.
How much is shipping?
Shipping is free!!!
Do they ship internationally?
YES!! And this is also FREE!!
On To My Mixtiles Review
I’m going to lead with the fact that I have had my Mixtiles for over two years now and I have never had one of the tiles fall off the wall. I was really worried about this. I will say, once I got mine in place I have left them there. Now keep in mind that we were kind of popping them on and off while placing them, trying to line them up just right and getting the photos where I wanted them. I had no damage to my walls doing this.
Today, my husband noticed one wasn’t perfectly straight while he was taking the photos so he popped it off and realigned it with no issues. But I’m going to take a video of me popping a different one off so I can show you they truly are renter-friendly. You can see that here…
I really like that it forced me to use some photos I had on my phone too. We millennials take all kinds of photos that just sit on our phones. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want hard copies taking up space, but once in a while, there is a gem worth a spot on a gallery wall. I like that you can quickly edit the photos or apply a filter to the photos so they all look uniform and good together. Also, you can add to the wall later as you get different photos so it can grow with your life and family without worrying about if you’ll find enough frames later on down the road. Below you can see the back of the tile:
The biggest renter perk: TAKING the whole thing down when you move and easily putting it back up at your new place.
The only thing I was a bit disappointed with in the very beginning was how lightweight they were. I thought maybe they were cheap. But I quickly realized, “Like, duh, they can’t be wicked heavy to be held up without nails.” Plus, I have had them now for years and they look perfect and have stayed in place beautifully. Plus they guarantee their products, so any issues and you can send them back.
I am also happy with the white, black, and natural frame choices. I feel like they’ll fit any style there is. I wish they had the natural wood frames when I ordered them. That’s what I would have gotten, but I do like the white just fine.
I moved four of my tiles to a white wall in a different stairway to get a photo and ended up loving them there so tomorrow I’ll move the rest to another wall in that area. Glad I decided to review these, I found a new place for them 🙂
So, Yes, I Totally Recommend Mixtiles
I would recommend Mixtiles to anyone, not just renters. It’s a fast and beautiful way to get a gallery wall, adding character to even the most boring rental. Especially if you’re not the most artistic at coming up with the setup of the wall on your own. Their website has galleries to browse and you can click on them and upload your prints for that exact setup. They make it super easy for anyone to create not just any old gallery wall, but one that is uniquely yours, with your family, your life, and your experiences. Remember, leave room to grow!
